Throughout the process of covering I have realized that covering, as an avenue to express the enthusiasm of fans towards their idols, is a process that strengthens the done between fans and idols. When the group tried to cover NU’EST W’s song Dejavu, we tried to not only emulate what is being presented visually but to feel, to “profile” and conceive what message the idol is trying to convey.

After we have analyzed the most crucial scene to be reproduced to deliver the original message of the video, I felt my understanding of NU’ EST W has been elevated. Besides enjoying the music, a pristine bond has been forged: I am able to feel what they feel through the process of acting; it almost feel like I too am part of the group. This feeling is satisfying.

I have to say that the process of delivering this short clip was not at all a smooth journey - we have encountered technical difficulties from acting to editing. To make this 20-second video, the group has been filming for over five hours and we kept fine tuning our storyboard to be able to produce the intended effects with limited devices.

Nevertheless, this experience me feel grateful as until now I have come to realize a myriad of obstacles has to be conquered before a hi quality album, a work of art and love can be delivered to the audience. I found it quite hard to understand why fans go all the way, from forming fan base and carry out events at varying magnitude. Now I do agree that artists in the K-pop does worth the effort and enthusiasm given how much effort they put in to produce the work which make us all fall in love with. This mutual dedication is what propels the healthy ecosystem of fandom and idols in the K-pop culture.
